Synopsis

The Tarahumara, a Mexican indigenous people celebrated for their extraordinary endurance in running—often performed barefoot—have become a source of inspiration for a global surge in ultrarunning. Yet, this recognition arrives against a backdrop of hardship: the homes and communities of these remarkable runners are increasingly threatened by drug cartel activity and escalating violence.
