In Northern Ontario lies a pocket of something akin to southern Italy. A century ago, immigrants from Siderno, Italy sought opportunity in Schreiber. Though the town's principal industries—the mines, mills, and railway—have since diminished, the descendants of these original families remain. Their small businesses, enduring family bonds, and distinctive southern-Italian heritage are vital threads in the fabric of this singular, yet challenged, community.
