Derrick and Shannon Nelson, residents of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, were hesitant to rush into homeownership. While their rental apartment offered many appealing amenities, the space had become too confining. They had decided it was time to seek a house, envisioning a home with an open kitchen nestled in a natural setting—a place where they could greet each morning with breathtaking mountain views.
