Synopsis

United Nations forces pressed onward toward the Kansas Line, encountering no opposition at Pynoggang, but facing fierce resistance deeper within the Iron Triangle. General Jim Van Fleet, commander of the 8th Army, hesitated to push too far north; he believed the resulting territory would be more difficult to hold should ceasefire negotiations commence. Meanwhile, Douglas MacArthur continued his tour of the states, though met with progressively smaller gatherings.
