Synopsis

General Douglas MacArthur, commander of the United Nations forces, maintains that a larger troop presence is essential to counter the Chinese Communists, a prospect unlikely to be realized soon. Meanwhile, UN troops in the North orchestrate a remarkable evacuation from Hungnam, reaching South Korea and commencing defensive preparations. This occurs as Eighth Army commander Walton Walker undertakes a perilous journey north of Seoul, a move that would prove ultimately disastrous.
