The 2011 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and tsunami displaced many elderly people who relied on care, leaving them homeless. At Sumi-chan's Home, a care facility in Higashi-Matsushima, Miyagi Prefecture, they have found a new sense of belonging – a family extended to include staff members who share the pain of similar losses.
