The Kuzuryu River, a defining feature of Fukui Prefecture in central Japan, is known locally as "the raging river" for its frequent floods. Yet, its inhabitants also cherish the abundance it provides. We documented a five-kilometer section of the river in its middle reaches, where it originates on Mount Haku and flows 116 kilometers to meet the Sea of Japan.
