Synopsis

For generations, the Ainu people thrived in balance with the natural world, maintaining a distinct and vibrant culture. However, the arrival of Japanese settlers in their ancestral lands – now Hokkaido – brought a profound shift. Faced with a changing world, the Ainu gradually yielded to Japanese customs, and their unique traditions began to fade. Today, a new generation is courageously reclaiming their heritage, illuminating a difficult past while reviving their language and customs.
