Synopsis

For generations, the indigenous Ainu people thrived in a delicate balance with the natural world, maintaining a distinct and vibrant culture. However, the arrival of Japanese settlers in their ancestral lands—now Hokkaido—imposed a shift. The Ainu were compelled to assimilate, gradually relinquishing aspects of their unique heritage. Today, a new generation is courageously reclaiming their history, reviving their language, and reaffirming their traditions.
