In 1980s Helsinki, the sudden disappearance of a fifteen-year-old girl sends ripples through a close-knit group of teenagers and leaves behind unsettling clues: a discarded bag filled with ripped clothing found deep within the nearby woods. Warm summer nights draw the young people to the shopping mall. The girls, vibrant with life, speak of gap years and distant horizons. Meanwhile, Nina’s brother, Daniel, grows increasingly uneasy with the newcomer in their house.
Despite the easy acceptance she’s found within the group, Daniel remains wary of Lola. Nina discovers that Lola has been dishonest. The parents meet Nina’s boyfriend, Peten, and Ismo extends to him an offer of employment as an assistant.
With Nina’s confirmation drawing near, the family has decided that Lola will be accommodated in Nina’s room during the preparations. Simultaneously, the behavior of their grandfather, Kaarlo, is growing increasingly unsettling.
