"The Company" really shows how far Chinese television has come. It's a skillfully made science fiction story involving time travel, with a historical setting rooted in China’s extensive past. The characters are very well developed and the actors have great rapport together; they're all quite appealing. I was especially struck by the fact that this series avoids easy answers when dealing with difficult moments from history. Not every situation resolves itself in a way that makes everyone satisfied. There are minor flaws, though. Like many Asian shows, it has some overly sweet and occasionally silly elements, but these aren't overused. Overall, it’s a well-written and mature series—enjoyable and intelligent enough to make you think. I suggest watching it if you like time travel or science fiction.
