Synopsis

A telegram arrived for Tanigaki, bearing grim news: Huci was near death. He was drawn into a somber reflection on his past, specifically his friendship with Kenkichi, a fellow Matagi. Kenkichi had married and, years later, murdered Tanigaki's sister. Vowing retribution, Tanigaki had joined the 7th Regiment upon hearing a rumor of Kenkichi’s enlistment. It was at the Battle of 203 Hill that he encountered the dying, blinded Kenkichi. In his final moments, Kenkichi confessed to euthanizing Tanigak
