Synopsis

Joe learned from Amos that Jack had been seen leaving the barn with Marian. He drove to the Wilks farm to find Jack present. The reason for his visit was Marian having broken Matt's fishing rod, a gift from Peggy, and Joe’s subsequent borrowing of money from three different people to repair it. Annie discovered this and confronted him. Meanwhile, Peggy was angered by the imbalance, feeling that Matt should be shouldering the burden while Jack and Joe were preoccupied with Marian.
