Synopsis

Billy and Philippa called off their engagement; she yearned to return to the world of beauty contests. When Mrs. Grimshaw made a cutting remark about Minnie, Ena stepped forward to challenge her in the Rovers Return. Mrs. Grimshaw declared that the Council had affirmed the preservation of Ena’s "Coronation Street," with its fifty-four dwellings. Unyielding, Ena refused to yield, dismissing Mrs. Grimshaw with a pointed remark to the appreciative murmur of the assembled patrons.
