I really wanted to enjoy "Lazarus," but I didn’t. It's a clear example of squandered opportunity. There are talented performers involved, and the premise has promise—a story involving the unexplained. It had the potential to be good. Unfortunately, the execution and development of the characters fall short. The series is constantly shifting between scenes, creating an unsettling and jarring feeling that persists throughout. As a viewer, I struggled to concentrate and find any sense of flow or ease, which would have let me connect with what was happening. The way the characters are portrayed only compounds the problems. The central figure, "Laz," comes across more like someone needing mental health care than providing it. His behavior is erratic, filled with frequent emotional displays that feel like mini-meltdowns. I quickly found myself disliking him and growing weary of his constant dramatics. The calm demeanor of his spectral father offered a slight contrast. Ultimately, the poor direction and flawed characterizations undermine what could have been an excellent murder mystery series with a spooky, supernatural atmosphere. It’s not something I would suggest watching.
