A new roof is being installed, and our master carpenter discusses the system with roofing contractor Mark Mulloy. The construction features a decking layer, a bitumen membrane covering every surface from eave to ridge, a three-dimensional nylon mesh designed to promote airflow beneath the shingles, and finally, pressure-treated southern yellow pine shingles backed by a 50-year transferable warranty. Tom demonstrates to Steve an efficient method for cutting studs when constructing a partition wal
