Synopsis

Martha Nussbaum addressed students at the University of Chicago, a place often associated with both the pursuit of justice and the city's role as the birthplace of Milton Friedman's free-market fundamentalism and the subsequent neoliberal Chicago School. Friedman’s legacy is currently under intense scrutiny, fueled in part by the activist writer Naomi Klein, who, during a lecture last October, strongly opposed the establishment of an institute bearing his name in Chicago.
