Synopsis

In the West, the concept of 'truth' is inextricably linked to the Enlightenment. As the final installment in a series of four episodes exploring truth, Tegenlicht confronts the foundations of Enlightenment thought. Dutch philosopher Rob Wijnberg (born 1982) engages in debate with British philosopher John Gray. Gray’s most recent book, *Black Mass: Religion, Utopian Dreams and Disillusionment* (2007), reads as an argument for the abandonment of utopia itself.
