Synopsis

The question of whether Turkey should join the European Union is currently debated widely, yet the agreement for its membership was explicitly stated in 1963 and again in 1999 and 2002. At most, only conditions remain to be attached to this accession. It falls to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to clearly articulate this to journalists, members of parliament, and leaders of European governments, who in turn are increasingly confronted with growing skepticism from their own citizens.
