Synopsis

The third documentary in the 'Tegenlicht' series, 'Makeable Netherlands,' examines the Bijlmer, a development envisioned as a utopia in the 1960s. Fifteen years later, however, the utopian ideals had largely faded. The area had become associated with drug use and petty crime, a place few desired to call home – with the exception of a growing influx of migrants, often arriving without resources and sometimes illegally. It was they, in the 1990s, who ultimately shaped the Bijlmer's character.
