Synopsis

Rwanda lies in the heart of Africa, embraced by tranquil lakes and majestic mountain ranges. A land of profound beauty, it once again commemorates this month the genocide of 1994, which claimed the lives of nearly a million people. George Brugmans of VPRO’s Tegenlicht journeyed to the land of a thousand hills, observing how the legacy of the past, aspirations for the future, and the realities of the present are inextricably intertwined.
