Synopsis

Captain Verlay began to receive a series of postcards, each bearing a reproduction of a painting by Gustave Courbet. It was a peculiar game, a sort of treasure hunt orchestrated by an unknown hand. With every riddle he deciphered on the cards, a fresh discovery awaited him – a corpse, found in a location hinted at by the artwork's message.
