Synopsis

Dante’s return to the quiet coastal village stirs unease. He arrives with his wife, Nemia, a woman of striking beauty whose former life as a courtesan is a source of deep disapproval for Dante’s mother. This disapproval mirrors Dante's own inability to accept Poldo, his new stepfather. Dante’s apprehension proves tragically justified when Poldo assaults Nemia, an act she conceals out of fear of losing the husband and son she now holds dear.
