Synopsis

In a village steeped in hardship, where sorrow clung to the inhabitants like a persistent illness, a young sacristan held fast to his faith in God and the bonds of family. Elmer continued his duties at the church, steadfast despite the loss of his father and the temptation to flee his circumstances. His belief would be tested as never before when his own mother, consumed by grief, descended into sacrilege and a life of dissolute abandon.
