There are miniseries content with simply being a “decent thriller,” but this one isn't like that. It grabs you immediately with an odd, unsettling energy, as if someone is observing you from a window you didn’t realize existed. I watched it eagerly because it doesn’t just aim to intrigue; it pulls you into a downward spiral of suspicion, obsession, and paranoia that’s difficult to escape. The central dynamic between the characters is what really draws you in. Claire Danes delivers a performance where she seems on the verge of collapse, yet maintains control with an intense focus. And Matthew Rhys… wow. He's unhinged here, certainly, but even better, he doesn't portray it as mere buffoonery. Instead, he makes him genuinely threatening: someone who can be charming one moment and then send chills down your spine the next. That combination of appeal and menace is a powerful ingredient for this kind of story. What impressed me most was how dark it gets without resorting to easy solutions all the time. There are plot twists, naturally, and some episodes leave you feeling like “just one more and I’m done” (a lie). Occasionally, it feels like certain elements are drawn out a bit too long, as if trying to build tension beyond what's necessary… but generally, it paid off because the overall tone is very well maintained. The atmosphere also plays a significant role: beautiful homes that seem safe but aren’t, silences that linger just enough for your mind to conjure up the worst possibilities, and staging that gradually traps you alongside the characters. It's a series of glances, details, subtle gestures that communicate “something is wrong” even when no one speaks. It isn’t a flawless miniseries, nor does it attempt to be. If you are searching for something that revolutionizes the genre, this isn’t it. However, if you want an extremely addictive psychological thriller—the type that leaves you feeling uneasy and pondering things afterward—there's plenty here to enjoy. And yes: Rhys is seriously off his rocker… and that’s precisely what makes it so enjoyable.
