Synopsis

Marcus and Narcissa Whitman, missionaries, established a settlement along the banks of the Columbia River with the intention of converting the Cayuse people. However, cultural misunderstandings and a devastating measles epidemic escalated existing tensions, ultimately culminating in a tragic and irreversible conflict.
