Rose’s need for a live-in superintendent prompted Manny to suggest his father, fully aware that the arrangement would mean a significant reduction in the family’s rent. Upon moving in, they discovered, however, that he was also the Superintendent – a role for which Alfonso possessed absolutely no aptitude.
