It’s hard to locate now, and I have to admit, I really enjoyed this show as a child. I think programs like this should return; they represent a time when humor could be silly, immature, playful, and genuinely amusing. Modern comedy often feels forced—either it's attempting to make a political point that isn’t actually funny, relying on references that have lost their impact and only require viewers to remember something from the past... ...and I don’t find either of those approaches successful. *1st & 10* managed to incorporate jokes ranging from clever to absurd, covering every possible spectrum. It benefited from a period when comedy felt unrestricted—a time when anything was acceptable. The show also emerged during an era when HBO prioritized comedic series over dramatic ones. The humor does occasionally rely on cultural and political references that haven’t aged well, so it carries a slightly dated quality. Aside from that, it's unusual to see football featured in a comedy of this caliber rather than baseball.
