The series presents an appealing concept involving time travel, and while generally “good,” it ultimately suffers from a reliance on uncomplicated narratives, convenient plot developments, and characters lacking depth, particularly as the story progresses. This diminished my engagement with the show over its run. For instance, without revealing specifics, two of the opposing forces are defined solely by declarations like "I am a violent psycho," and subsequently carry out acts of violence against the protagonists with minimal explanation. The central figures avoid involving law enforcement, leading to predictable scenarios that have been seen countless times before. A similar issue exists with the primary antagonist – ultimately, their motivations remain unclear. Similarly, one of the principal (positive) characters experiences a sudden shift in demeanor that feels forced and disappointing; it seemed as though the writers simply intended to remove this character from the narrative. Given the relatively short length of eight episodes, they could have paced this change more effectively, allowing for a gradual and believable transition. I also felt that the historical setting wasn’t explored sufficiently. The differences between the time periods are initially highlighted but then only occasionally referenced, with no significant character growth or insights stemming from these contrasts. It often came across as resembling a staged environment. To put it simply, it's watchable, but temper your expectations; be prepared to fast-forward through portions if you just want to reach the conclusion—which is what I ended up doing.
