Every so often, a low-budget zombie film appears, featuring a recognizable but not top-tier performer, prioritizing action over scares, and offering nothing fresh to the genre. I went into _Zombies_ expecting exactly that for 2017. And mostly, my suspicion was correct. The one unexpected element, though, came in the closing moments of the film. It wasn’t a completely original concept; I can identify the superior movie it borrowed from, but this specific situation hadn't been depicted quite like this in a zombie story before.
