The idea of combining zombies and sharks seemed promising, though it might have turned out even less enjoyable. While there were some genuinely amusing deaths and over-the-top conversations that fit with the intentionally silly style typical of Syfy monster movies, Zombie Shark didn't quite manage to be as entertaining as I’d anticipated. Despite having numerous scenes that were so poorly made they became humorous—which are often highlights in this genre—the film ultimately felt disappointing. The sections meant to develop the characters between the shark and zombie attacks were particularly weak. In the end, Zombie Shark is a fairly average example of a campy shark movie; it offers some laughs but falls short of reaching the level of films like Sharknado or Ghost Shark.
