If you decide to watch Zombeavers—and you’ve glanced at any description beforehand—you should have a good idea of what to expect. It's going to be low-budget, playful, ridiculous, and geared toward horror fans who appreciate that kind of wild, gory entertainment. Zombeavers isn’t a masterpiece, naturally, but within its particular niche of horror films, it manages to surpass many larger comedy/horror movies released over the past thirty years. It's certainly not on par with Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, however, there is plenty of enjoyment to be found in observing how the filmmakers deliberately fulfill the standard expectations for this type of movie. There are some clever jokes scattered throughout the gore and fake-looking creatures, and the writing frequently has a surprising wit as sharp as the teeth of those troubled beaver characters. It won’t likely appear on any horror enthusiast's favorite films list, and only people with a particular taste would enthusiastically suggest it as essential viewing. Nevertheless, it provides amusement if you want to set aside your critical thinking skills. 6/10
