Patrick Wilson portrays Sam Ellis, an ambitious state prosecutor who appears to have a comfortable existence with his supportive wife, Jeannie (Lena Headey), from a prominent family, as he’s being positioned for advancement in politics. Despite the outward appearance of contentment, Sam struggles with a secret addiction to internet pornography, which escalates when he begins using an upscale escort service. This compulsion creates complications; the agency is facing a police inquiry, his spouse grows wary, and a reporter named Coaker (Ray Winstone) starts digging for information that could ruin him. Wilson has found success portraying morally questionable figures who have possibly overstepped boundaries. Unfortunately, the movie itself lacks direction. Sam’s wife is acquainted with Coaker and understands how he operates; it's evident that those in positions of wealth and influence are capable of concealing damaging truths. The central question becomes whether Sam can control himself – a point the film deliberately leaves unresolved.
