This film functions as a harsh criticism of budget airlines, but beyond that, it feels like an unfortunate misapplication of everyone involved’s abilities. Adèle Exarchopoulos portrays a flight attendant drifting through existence, moving from location to location and engaging in fleeting relationships while coming to the understanding that her feelings are insignificant to others. She operates under a philosophy of immediate gratification. This is highlighted when management attempts to move her to a temporary position, then changes her work location, and ultimately reduces her role after she shows concern for a passenger experiencing difficulty—a violation of company rules. The title unfortunately fits too well. I found myself feeling nothing either way. Her struggles failed to engage me against the backdrop of coworkers who would seem dependable compared to Janus. This is due in part to some uninspired performances, but also because of writing that’s equally underwhelming. There's a complete absence of humor, and her monotonous routine translates effectively onto the screen. While the job itself may be fascinating, watching someone perform it isn’t. Airline passengers can sometimes behave ridiculously, so maybe this could be shortened and played instead of the usual safety briefing before takeoff.
