There’s quite a bit to appreciate about it, but the weaker sections significantly detract from the overall experience. The horror sequences in 'You’re Next' work well. The deaths are inventive and the antagonists convincingly portray their roles. Sharni Vinson makes an impression as Erin, though she was really the only performer I found enjoyable. However, the initial development, the characters’ choices, and the final reveal were disappointing. While I usually can overlook questionable actions by characters, this film sets a new standard for implausibility. I frequently questioned their motivations, which became frustrating. The editing and cinematography also have shortcomings. Regarding the cast, Vinson stands out as the strongest performer; her character evolves into something quite compelling throughout the movie. Still, she never seemed to fully belong within the story. Seeing Vinson carry a film as Erin would be fantastic, but unfortunately, her potential is limited here. If you’re looking for a 95-minute slasher that requires minimal thought investment, it might be worth checking out. For me though, the less successful aspects prevent it from reaching its full potential given the solid horror elements.
