I'm not going to try and soften the blow: this film represents a real low point. It felt like just when Kevin Smith seemed to be finding his way, something as awful as “Yoga Hosers” appeared. There’s absolutely no reason for its existence. Please disregard anyone who suggests it resembles “‘Clerks.’” It's nowhere close. The movie is simply a jumbled collection of jokes and concepts that don’t quite come together. I didn’t find anything amusing, and the jokes intended to be funny barely elicited even a slight smile from those watching. When the most entertaining aspects are the actors saying “aboot” with a Canadian accent, you know the film lacks depth. The attempt at campiness just didn't land. While the premise of two ditzy teenage convenience store clerks fighting an army of poorly animated Nazi bratwursts using yoga poses might appeal to some, I was so incredibly bored that I started thinking about falling asleep less than half an hour in. The film is so badly directed and executed that I genuinely hope it doesn't mark the end of Smith’s career as a filmmaker. Let’s address another obvious issue: the terrible performances from the main actors. I understand Smith’s desire to cast his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, but I feel obligated to point out that she and Lily-Rose Depp were both very wooden in their roles as the two Colleens. Did they not have any prior acting experience? It was certainly apparent! CGI mannequins would have been preferable choices for the lead characters. Johnny Depp seemed distracted, as if he were more concerned with watching over his daughter than remembering his lines. The repetitive and tiresome musical interludes featuring the teenage girls singing did nothing to improve things. Before you assume this is just the ranting of a grumpy person, I’ve been a fan of Smith's for many years (I even appreciate “Mallrats,” which gets a lot of criticism, and enjoyed the strange film "Tusk"). However, “Yoga Hosers” is among the worst movies I’ve ever seen. The thought of rewatching this disastrous and mediocre movie fills me with dread. I would honestly rather spend forever eating broken glass than have to sit through it again.
