It's a familiar feeling: sitting in a theater and questioning the experience. But usually, you don’t voice those concerns directly to the performers. "Yannick" (Raphaël Quenard) does just that, expressing his dissatisfaction with the production of "Le Cocu," complaining about having wasted a day off work and money on what he finds unengaging. Initially, the actors respond, then dismiss him. However, he quickly reappears armed with a gun, requesting a laptop and printer so he can write them a script to improve their show. The premise is admittedly quite unbelievable, and for some time I wasn't certain if "Yannick" was actually an additional cast member brought in to disrupt the proceedings. It’s noticeable that the audience members don’t seem particularly frightened by his actions. This uncertainty, combined with Quenard’s engaging performance, makes for a rather unusual viewing experience; though it overstays its welcome, there are moments when it feels like an inventive blend of theater and film with enough grounding in reality to be genuinely humorous at times. The story ultimately loses its momentum towards the conclusion, but the initial forty minutes offer something original and are worth seeing.
