_Yakuza Princess_ proves disappointing, especially considering the potential it seemed to hold for an engaging action thriller. The biggest problem is that there isn’t enough of what you'd expect from a film in this category. Jonathan Rhys Meyers nearly achieves greatness, needing only one truly spectacular helicopter scene to fully realize his performance, and stories centered on the yakuza typically leave a lasting impression. However, the movie ultimately falters due to its lead performer lacking sufficient experience. Any chance for impressive fight scenes is ruined by the film’s clumsy editing choices. While there's an interesting premise and one good supporting performance, they aren't enough to redeem what is otherwise a poorly made action movie that fails to deliver excitement.
