I’d been intrigued by the premise and the buzz surrounding this movie, but ultimately it didn't live up to my hopes. It felt underwhelming, even simplistic, largely due to how things wrapped up. While some viewers might find it acceptable, I personally wasn’t among them; it just didn’t resonate with me either way. Sometimes a predictable ending doesn’t bother me if it serves the narrative well, but this film seemed determined to steer clear of that approach, and that's where I lost my engagement. The early sections were quite promising, featuring a compelling character named Nathan, a teenage math whiz. The story follows his preparation for an important international competition representing his nation. He’s mentored by the country’s top instructor, and then it’s left to see if he succeeds or not. The film draws inspiration from one of Britain's competitors in the 2006 International Mathematical Olympiad. It was directed by a documentary filmmaker who had previously created a movie exploring a similar subject with the original character that appears here. It isn’t presented as a true biography or entirely based on actual events; it simply took inspiration and underwent significant alterations for the screen. I anticipated a story centered around a gifted young man and the competition, but the romantic subplot was unexpected and quite prominent. It wasn't unpleasant—I appreciated how the boy and girl got to know each other, reminiscent of a cultural exchange program. Aside from that final portion, it was enjoyable. That’s my impression, and perhaps you will find it fantastic. The only real way to decide is to watch it yourself. 6/10
