It’s enjoyable, something I could see myself watching again, and I feel comfortable suggesting it to others. Calling it a "comic book movie" feels inaccurate; it works well as its own thing. The most engaging part of the previous film was Wolverine, and this one is an unexpected example of a studio listening to what viewers wanted and essentially creating a Wolverine origin story—which is precisely what it is. Ignoring the comic book details and focusing on Wolverine, the conflict involving the Brotherhood of Mutants provides a reasonably captivating storyline. It’s nice that they presented it from the perspective of ordinary people, but upon further consideration, it becomes apparent that this is just another depiction of racial conflict. That realization somewhat diminishes the excitement surrounding the narrative's premise. Although the story has a slightly more promising foundation and a solid basic plot, there are numerous instances where the film relies heavily on "(mostly Wolverine does) something impressive." There are at least two significant exceptions—moments involving multiple mutants collaborating—that deliver plenty of exciting action while also contributing meaningfully to the plot's advancement. I would honestly suggest that people watch this one instead of the first.
