"Working Girl" proves to be a delightful movie, delivering a considerable amount of enjoyment. The romantic storyline feels authentic, and the humor lands consistently well; unsurprisingly, given its substantial success worldwide. A particularly striking aspect is how the character of Tess McGill serves as a vehicle for observations about corporate culture and the judgments people face based on their appearance or behavior. Those in positions of power tend to disregard others, regardless of talent or merit—a parallel to the condescending attitudes some men hold toward women. It's welcome to see a film that suggests this doesn’t always have to be reality, and that no one should feel obligated to accept such treatment, whether at work or at home.
