It’s a genuinely enjoyable film, though likely not one I’ll revisit, but I can certainly suggest it to others. I think other films could learn something from this approach. Starting with the "deceased family member" plot device felt unnecessary, and I dislike the practice of abruptly removing characters from a story – it didn't evoke the same feeling as “Up!” at all. Another issue I had was seeing a pig and hearing Mila Kunis’ voice; it proved surprisingly distracting. What I mean by saying other movies should emulate this is its structure. It swiftly establishes character development and world-building for one setting, which then introduces another universe, before reintroducing the second with concise character introductions, a demonstration of conflict, some brief background information, and a quest to uncover a mystery, gradually revealing details to the audience. Truthfully, if you’re creating a movie, you could simply begin with the quest itself; viewers will understand what's happening, especially if the situation is explained to other characters. It might lack some of the charm, but it would allow for more content and therefore more exciting moments. I really liked the "chim-pan-zombies"; I thought it was a brilliant concept. This falls into the category of “a story that’s an analogy for real life,” so naturally, it deals with a young person processing emotions related to a traumatic experience. However, I often forgot about this aspect when they stopped actively reminding me what the movie was actually about. It's a great choice for a family film, and while I recognize that it might not appeal to everyone, there’s a good chance you will enjoy it.
