This film manages to be deeply affecting and genuinely impressive. It’s surprising how it avoids becoming overly serious, thanks to Sarah Polley's creative direction and a really strong script that work together exceptionally well. The filmmakers made a smart decision in balancing moments of intense emotion with those that feel hopeful. The conversations explored are captivating, and every line spoken feels purposeful. An exceptional group of actors brings the story to life, though Jessie Buckley stands out with a complex and powerful portrayal. It ranks among the very best films released this year.
