This remake turned out surprisingly well. It suggests there’s still something worthwhile here. The genre itself just requires someone with a clear idea for a story that could really work. I plan on rewatching it so I can catch all the subtle details I overlooked initially. What I appreciated most was how it exposed religious hypocrisy among those in positions of authority, constantly striving for greater influence and power—even if they had to resort to unscrupulous methods to get it.
