I’m genuinely surprised by this film. My recall is pretty good; I remember a lot of things clearly, but this one really stuck with me. I must have been 14, just beginning high school and feeling incredibly restless, hanging out in my parents' basement on that familiar couch—the kind many people had growing up in the nineties, like in Longview’s music video—and then *Witch Hunt* appeared. Very quickly, I found myself taken aback by what was unfolding onscreen. The storyline felt unusual, the special effects were low-budget, but the production design was interesting. It gave me a sense of Sam Spade, that classic detective feel and atmosphere, except with elements of magic and strangeness mixed in. It ended up being one of the more enjoyable movies I’ve come across by chance, captivating me to the point where I had to put everything else aside just to see how it played out.
