The movie *Wish* didn’t quite grab me with its narrative, though I did appreciate the music. I believe I enjoyed every song featured, which is saying something. While these aren't tunes I would necessarily seek out to listen to independently—certainly not regularly—they work very well within the context of the film. "This Wish" and "At All Costs" were particularly memorable. The story itself was engaging; it kept me interested from start to finish, but there’s a certain quality absent that prevents this 2023 release from being more than simply ‘good,’ at least in my view. I'm not entirely sure what element is missing. The performances were also a plus, similar to the music. Chris Pine delivers a strong performance, and Ariana DeBose carries the film effectively; I’ve seen her in other movies and generally like her work. It was only after seeing it that I realized this had apparently been promoted as a special centennial celebration for Disney. That seems rather strange!
