There’s a glimmer of potential in *Windfall*, yet I found myself losing interest frequently enough that it didn’t come across as good, or even satisfactory. It failed to truly capture my attention. It's disappointing because the actors involved are impressive when you look at their names. Lily Collins delivers a notably strong performance, with Jesse Plemons right behind her. Jason Segel is less convincing; his physical acting is decent, but I struggled to accept the storyline whenever he began speaking. A similar feeling arose, though to a smaller extent, regarding Plemons—someone whose work I generally enjoy. The fact that it’s so clearly a film made during the pandemic doesn't do it any favors, and highlights how constrained the single-location plot feels. Perhaps it’s not entirely fair to hold it accountable for those circumstances, but regardless, the movie does manage to gain some momentum toward its conclusion.
