This particular narrative won’t appeal to all viewers, but it will connect with some. It isn't a standout film, but rather a solid one. The plot follows a character who tends to isolate himself. A series of losses have piled up – first his close friend relocated, then his father passed away. He then resolves to reconnect with his former spouse and uncovers a long-held secret in the process. Pursuing this revelation leads to profound changes in his life, which is what unfolds for the rest of the movie. Woody Harrelson carried the film effectively, though I also appreciated Laura Dern’s performance; it was refreshing to see her in such an immersive role, especially since 'Wild'. Judy Greer delivered a satisfactory contribution as well. The casting choices were excellent and the story proved more engaging than its promotional materials suggested. The storyline isn't groundbreaking, but it was skillfully adapted from the graphic novel of the same title. It may surprise you positively, so I suggest giving it a chance despite what other ratings might say.
