It’s enjoyable, something I would happily watch again, and I feel comfortable suggesting it to others. There are some sensitive elements present; viewers should be aware that the film contains depictions of kidnapping and sexual assault. Bel Powley delivers an outstanding performance and really drives the narrative forward. Liv Tyler portrays a concerned mother effectively, Brad Dourif is suitably unsettling, and Collin Kelly-Sordelet embodies teen angst well, but James Le Gros stands out as particularly compelling even with limited screen time. The supporting characters largely exist to move the plot along; the writing isn’t bad, it's simply very concentrated in its focus. The initial scenes are harsh because we witness what she is experiencing, and everything that follows revolves around her evolution, which is presented exceptionally well. This film prioritizes visuals, and while the dialogue isn't poorly written, there isn't much of a spark to it. I believe it could still be considered a worthwhile experience even if you watched it without sound.
