The age of digital gang war has arrived. This German cyber-thriller comes from the director of 'The Silence'. The second part of its title, 'Kein Systen ist Sicher', translates to 'No System is Safe' in English. While many films have explored this subject matter, nothing quite matches this one’s appeal. This is largely due to the youthful cast and the film’s portrayal of the modern cyber world. With a rapid pace and an exciting plot, along with some unexpected developments, it easily exceeded my expectations. The movie found its rhythm at just the right moments, creating some truly memorable scenes. However, as is typical for thrillers, the third act proved to be its strongest point, shifting the narrative in surprising ways. The world of hacking has both positive and negative aspects, but what I witnessed here felt like a digital gang war directly impacting law enforcement. It’s essentially a virtual conflict between two groups vying for dominance within the cyber underworld—something far beyond a simple online game. Hackers often serve as supporting characters in films, which is how they've traditionally been depicted. While some movies have attempted to place them at the forefront, none have convinced me of their genuine actions, both virtually and physically, to achieve their goals quite like this one does. This film isn’t solely about programming, cracking passwords, stealing data, or releasing viruses; it's not just about a computer geek. However, it does involve someone whose world changes after encountering a small group of experts in various fields who become unstoppable when they join forces and form a team called CLAY to connect with the world’s top hacker, MRX. After experiencing feelings of being undervalued and humiliated, CLAY challenges their idol and tries to take his place—a plan that ultimately fails. This sets the story on a grander path, bringing in secret police and leading to a more engaging conclusion. “When life gives you lemons, ask for salt and tequila.” The balance between all of its elements was remarkable. The film avoids having characters spend the entire time in front of computers; instead, there are numerous real-world adventures outside of that setting. This challenges the common belief that everything can be accomplished with a computer keyboard. There’s also a touch of romance and a magic trick which briefly illustrates an important phase of the story and provides insight into what's happening. The overall narrative unfolds as a flashback, beginning in a police station where the main character is being questioned. He compares himself to superheroes, viewing his hacking ability as his superpower. It wasn’t just the fast pace that made the film work so well; the energetic performances of the young actors were also key. From a technical standpoint, it was superbly written, directed and edited. In some ways, the film evokes 'Fight Club' and 'The Usual Suspects'. It seems like the lead character is a fan of those films and drew inspiration from them. I would have liked to discuss this film in comparison to those two, but I’m trying to avoid spoilers, which would be difficult if I brought up that topic. Nevertheless, it was one of the most unpredictable movies I've seen recently. Regarding the twists, they feel like familiar tricks borrowed from older Hollywood blockbusters. However, viewers should remain patient until the very end because that final section is crucial and will likely determine how much they enjoyed the film. The movie has already established its own unique identity with the black hood and white mask, which have gained a cult following among fans. The rock music perfectly complemented this theme. A Hollywood remake is reportedly in development, but I hope it doesn’t ruin what makes the original special, as many remakes do. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to any news about a possible sequel because films like this deserve to be part of a trilogy. Especially in today’s film industry, trilogies are considered major achievements that follow an initial film’s success. If you loved this movie and were satisfied with how it ended, you probably wouldn’t mind seeing more. This isn't just for IT professionals; anyone who enjoys crime or thrillers will find something to appreciate. 8/10
